About Consterald Interior Design
Welcome! My name is Louise Sterritt and I am the owner and designer here at Consterald Interior Design. Growing up, we didn't have a huge amount of disposable income. However, I always remember, no matter how much or how little we had, my Mam always ensured the house was decorated beautifully. She would pick up new throws, cushions, shades and decor accessories to make our house feel like a home without breaking the bank.
I truly believe this is where my passion and love for beautiful interiors stemmed from.
I lived in the UK from 2010 to 2017, renovating the apartment I owned there - it was the first time I was able to properly personalise my home and I LOVED every second of it! We didn't have a huge amount of leftover cash from the purchase so I became creative with what I could do and worked with what I already had; instead of new tiles/kitchen cupboards, I bought paint and revamped that way! I couldn't paint every wall so I strategically chose walls I knew would benefit from a pop of colour.
It's amazing the impact you can make on even the smallest budget!
My main focus for that apartment was on the main living spaces and the bedroom - the areas I spent most of my time! It felt so satisfying to come home to a space I was truly happy in and was in the style I loved.
I was more relaxed and at ease. My bedroom felt like a small spa retreat, the perfect place to unwind with a book at the end of a busy day. I properly planned out the living areas so they suddenly appeared more spacious. The space no longer felt cramped when we had friends and family over. At last I was happy to entertain in my home again!
In 2013 my Dad fell terminally ill. I was back and forth a lot with my newborn daughter Erin, helping take care of him with Mam. It was then it really dawned on me that life is for living and can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye. So I decided to move back home to Ireland.
In 2020 myself and my partner bought our first home together. It was not to our taste so I completely redecorated and replanned the space in our style. It was a smaller house so careful planning of each room and its functionality was the main focus.
Once I had completed this (with clever floor planning!) I was able to decorate in the style we wanted, again giving priority to the living areas and bedrooms. A huge budget wasn't required. There were a few things we needed like new flooring and we prioritised our spend on these investment pieces for our home … but when it came to decor I used a little bit of upcycling and a creative mind!
In 2021 we decided to move out of Dublin and when we were selling the buyer asked If I was an interior designer!
That was when I decided to start turning this hobby into a full time job! This was something I loved and I knew I could help others who wanted to decorate their spaces but didn’t know how.
During this time, I completed a diploma in Interior Design with the Interior Design Institute and Consterald Interior Design was born!
I very intentionally choose to create an online-only interior design service. The main reason interior design fees are so costly is due to the travel time involved visiting your home, and the cost of procuring samples. This means working with an interior designer ends up being outside of most people’s means. By creating an online-only service where I supply the design (and my clients get to implement it and do all the fun stuff!) that means that my clients are always in charge of their own progress, finances and time!
I want everyone to live in the style they love in an affordable way! Just like my mother aimed to do in our home.
